DESCRIPTION
For low-cost housing, inventiveness first- as in ancient times. And the creation of beautiful sites free from the complex of «inescapable equality'. The plan of this housing unit drawn up by Luigi Figini, Gino Pollini, and Gio Ponti is founded on a composition of different buildings, set in a park, not on rows of identical buildings. The larger houses, five stories, high and the smaller houses (one story high and grouped in insulae) create a lively architectural landscape. Where, moreover, colour bursts out Two houses in the development were designed by Ponti. One red and white, with duplex apartments on the top floor. One white and yellow, a typical finite form that he designed in collaboration with Gigi Gho. In those years there was a lot of concern about the new architectural landscape that was being constructed in Italy, as a result of the many post war schemes and programs of low-cost housing. Ponti was determined to oppose the growing fashion for the fake village as well as false naturalism in planimetric compositions.
