DESCRIPTION
All the houses designed by Gio Ponti in Milan in these years were intended as demonstrations; demonstrations of the possibility of a pleasant urban architecture; unpleasant buildings are the result of a moral shortcoming, not an economic one: they derive from a lack of thought. For this reason Ponti liked to present his projects himself, when they were published (in Domus,), so that he could point out the aims achieved (he never spoke of form). About this house, the one he liked best, he said: look at the plans, look at the basements, look at the porter's lodge, look above all at the top two floors, treated as if they were a single terraced villa today the privileged floor is the top floor... it is necessary for more dwellings to reach the roof.
