DESCRIPTION
Commencing in 1927 and lasting throughout his life, the collaboration between Gio Ponti and the Parisian Orfevrerie Christofle, owned by the Bouilhet family, produced new fruit in 1955 and 1956. These were the years in which Ponti established his flexible and lively relationship with friendly industries, a relationship which permitted him to get immediate prototypes of possible series to come his preferred collaborator, on steel or silver prototypes, was Lino Sabattini. In 1957, Ponti held an exhibition at the Galerie Christofle in Paris, Formes Idees d'ltalie, in which he presented, as was his habit, not only his architecture and his designs for Christofle, but also ceramics, silverware, and paintings by friends, including Melotti, Gambone, Fiume, Rui, De Poli, and Sabattini, just as he had done in Goteborg in 1955.
